Founded by Mr Harold Tyner, now deceased, and 10 other Appaloosa breed enthusiasts in December of 1956, the Indiana Appaloosa Associaton (IAA) celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2016! It was their love and desire to promote this colorful breed in the Midwest that was the driving force behind the IAA’s initial success.
We could say that the rest his history, but the real success of the IAA can be attributed to many things – overall it’s our true commitment to the Appaloosa Breed that’s the most recognized reason of all. We offer a lot more than just a pretty website and a name, in fact we offer events throughout the ear for our members, these are just some examples;
IAA holds a 2-Day OPEN SHOW at the Fulton County Fairgrounds, which is better known as the Fulton County 4-H Equestrian Center. This show will be held on Memorial Day weekend, both Saturday and Sunday, with a different judge each day even though the same showbill will be followed. The purpose of this show is to not only showcase our club and promote our breed, but to have a family friendly fun filled day for everyone regardless of their breed of choice! This show IS a payback show with added money in several classes as well as a champion halter horse each day.
IAA holds a 2-Day, 3-Judge APHC approved show. in 2018, we held this show at the C Bar C Arena in beautiful Cloverdale, IN. Please check our show page for more information.
In short, we’re people – just like you – who love Appaloosa horses and want to preserve and flaunt our beautiful breed of choice. We like to say that in our club there are no strangers, just people who we haven’t met. That being said, we sincerely hope that you choose to join us in our fun and are open to all comments and questions that you may have.
